At 13:00 hours – a lecture devoted to

‘Trade Wars’ in the Light of the Law of the World Trade Organization (WTO)

What has been discussed a lot lately is the ‘wave of trade wars’ started up by the American president Donald Trump by imposing tariffs on the import of Chinese goods to the tune of tens of billions of American dollars. But what does this term actually mean and are we in a trade war? China has responded to the American measure by imposing retaliatory tariffs and, in April, it filed an application for consultations with the World Trade Organization, which are pending together with the simultaneous additional imposition of mutual tariffs and irritated responses of other states. The lecture will offer a short familiarisation with the law of the World Trade Organization and, within its scope, with the solution to trade conflicts among states.

The Open Door Day is taking place in the Institute’s meeting room on the 7th floor.
