The CZDEMOS4AI conference opened the issue of responsible and trustworthy artificial intelligence in the Czech Republic

On June 8, 2026, the CZDEMOS4AI project conference was held at the Hybernská Campus, focusing on the possibilities, limits and social impacts of responsible generative artificial intelligence. The project is dedicated to the development of discipline-based multi-agent AI assistants that are intended to assist in education, media and security, law and the field of mental health.

The program included a workshop part, in which the Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences organized a professional workshop “Between Rule and Autonomy: Responsible AI in Law”. The discussion focused on one of the key challenges of legal AI: how to connect the power of generative models with the requirements for accuracy, auditability, responsibility and work with high-quality legal data.

The workshop was moderated by the Director of the Institute of State and Law Lenka Vostrá. The professional program included speakers from Radim Polčák, Vice-Rector of Masaryk University, Ján Matejka, Head of the Department of Law of Research, New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence of the Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and Jakub Harašta from the Institute of Law and Technology of the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University. The participants mainly addressed the responsibility for the content created by AI, the legal quality of training data, the hierarchy of legal sources, human supervision and the question of where AI should have room for autonomous proposals and where, on the contrary, fixed rules, verified sources and controllable procedures must come into play. The conference showed that trustworthy AI is not only a technological issue. It is also a question of institutional responsibility, legal clarity and the ability to set such conditions that artificial intelligence serves as a safe, verifiable and publicly beneficial tool.
